An Unexpected Trip To Seattle

There was a mix-up in our flights to Asia and we had 2-3 extra days in Seattle, so we went exploring a little. I was surprised at how many trees there were. The downtown part had lots of tall buildings, but not lots of people walking on the streets...probably because we were there in the mornings when most people were at work. We went to Pike Place Market, the Space Needle (my youngest really wanted to go there!), and walked around. One of the more interesting places of note that we went to was the "gum wall." In the 1990s a small theater opened and they had a rule that you couldn't chew gum inside. People who were chewing gum just stuck it on the walls outside the theater doors. The theater tried cleaning the gum off, but then more gum was put on the walls. Eventually, they gave up. Now it's a small tourist attraction in Pike Place Market.
